Beware! Depression starts with low mood

Depression is a kind of psychological disorder mainly manifested by low mood (emotion), it belongs to the category of psychological disorder, but it is not simply manifested as a psychological problem. In addition to mental pain, patients can also feel a variety of physical pain symptoms, and even in some cases, the physical symptoms are more obvious, and the hidden depression that covers up the depression is often misdiagnosed as various types of depression. Various “neurosurgery”, such as cardiac neurosis, gastrointestinal neurosis, etc. It’s not surprising that we don’t know someone around us has depression, because a lot of times, we don’t even know when we become depressed without even realizing it. What we can detect is that the mood is not very good, and there is still a little lack of energy. The problem may have been obvious since then, and depression starts from a low mood.

Various “neurosurgery”, such as cardiac neurosis, gastrointestinal neurosis, etc. Women make up the vast majority of patients with depression. According to the latest statistics from Harvard University in the United States: Worldwide, women are twice as likely to suffer from depression than men. About 1 in 8 women worldwide will suffer from depression at some point in their lives. A few days ago, the Harvard Mental Health Research report analyzed the reasons why women are susceptible to depression as follows: Genetic factors: Genetic factors increase the probability of women suffering from depression by 50%. Scientists have identified a variety of genetic mutations associated with depression that only occur in women, including a gene closely related to female hormone regulation.

Women are more likely to be nervous: According to a survey of more than 30,000 people in 30 countries, women are more likely to complain that they are feeling nervous. Compared with men, women are more likely to suffer from some extremely stressful special situations, such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, and so on. Premenstrual Disorder: About 2%-10% of women suffer from premenstrual anxiety disorder, which is caused by these individuals’ high sensitivity to changes in hormone levels in the body. Special physiological period of pregnancy and postpartum: About 10% to 15% of mothers suffer from depression in the first 6 months after giving birth, and the rate of women suffering from depression during pregnancy is even higher. For these reasons, women should have enough awareness of depression and be alert to the troubles of depression.

However, it should be clear that depression is a treatable disease. Treatment methods can be psychotherapy, such as supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, etc. These psychotherapies are only suitable for the treatment of patients with less severe disease. Severe patients can be treated with drugs on the basis of psychotherapy. Commonly used drugs include tricyclic antidepressants (such as imipramine, amitriptyline, etc.), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (such as phenelzine, moclobemide, etc.) etc.), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (such as fluoxetine, sertraline, etc.). Newer antidepressants are venlafaxine, nefazodone, and mirtazapine. The efficacy of these antidepressants is roughly similar, but there are significant differences in adverse reactions, such as tricyclics and monoamine oxidase inhibitors have more adverse reactions, the impact on the heart and liver are relatively large. The use of these drugs should be under the guidance of a doctor. At the same time, because women have special physiological characteristics and special physiological period, some special treatment methods can be used in the treatment of depression. For menopausal depression, estrogen can be used as a complementary treatment, or as a synergist. For pregnant and breastfeeding women, antidepressant drugs can have adverse effects on the growth and development of the fetus or infant, but if left untreated, it will increase the incidence of preeclampsia and premature birth, making Newborns are underweight and can lead to abnormal behavioral problems in children in the future.
