Recognizing an escalating demand for accessible mental health support, Josselyn, a longstanding provider of mental health services in Lake County, has extended its reach to encompass the entire county.

Susan Resko, CEO and president of the community mental health center, noted that their clinics currently attend to 8,000 clients regularly and field over 1,000 monthly inquiries. Despite the easing of the pandemic, Resko emphasized that the need for mental health assistance persists.

To address this ongoing demand, Josselyn has recently broadened its presence by establishing additional locations, ensuring easier access to services for residents in areas such as Waukegan, Grayslake, and Highland Park.

Camilo Morales, clinical coordinator, expressed pride in the organization’s expansion, highlighting the opportunity to serve a more extensive clientele. Morales emphasized Josselyn’s commitment to inclusivity, noting the availability of Spanish-language options on their website and bilingual therapists like himself to support Spanish-speaking individuals.

“Our ability to understand and empathize with our clients’ experiences is enhanced by our shared cultural and linguistic backgrounds,” Morales remarked.

Robert Robbins, a beneficiary of Josselyn’s services, shared his journey from homelessness and substance abuse to stability and sobriety, crediting the comprehensive support provided by Josselyn for his transformation.

“I had no idea that there were resources available to me. For years, I struggled with addiction until I stumbled upon the Josselyn Center,” Robbins recounted.

Now celebrating 11 years of sobriety, Robbins is pursuing certification as a recovery support specialist, inspired by his own recovery journey facilitated by Josselyn’s wraparound services.

Chloe Brodner, assistant director of clinic services, elaborated on the diverse therapeutic offerings available at Josselyn, ranging from traditional therapy to expressive arts programs encompassing art, dance, and music.

“Our services are tailored to accommodate various needs and preferences, ensuring that individuals can engage with mental health support in ways that resonate with them,” Brodner explained.

As Josselyn continues to expand its footprint and diversify its services, its unwavering commitment to providing accessible and inclusive mental health care remains steadfast.
