The opening of a new youth mental health facility in Lincoln, Nebraska, marks a significant step in addressing the growing mental health needs of adolescents in the community. Named Imagine by Northpoint, the center is designed specifically for teens aged 12 to 17 and will offer a range of services, including group and family therapy. The initiative comes in response to the increasing demand for mental health services among young people, a trend that has been exacerbated by factors such as social media and the isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tiffany Gormley, the executive director of Northpoint, emphasized the importance of early intervention in preventing issues that could lead to substance abuse in adulthood. The facility aims to provide a supportive environment where teens can develop healthier coping mechanisms and build resilience.
Northpoint, which has been operating in Nebraska for about three years and also has locations in Colorado, Idaho, and Washington, has already seen success with its Omaha center, serving over 140 teens last year. The new Lincoln facility, located at 3801 Union Drive, Suite 100, just south of the Williamsburg Hy-Vee, will officially open its doors on Monday.
In addition to its focus on adolescents, Northpoint offers programs for adults, including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care. The organization recognizes the widespread impact of the pandemic on mental health and substance use and is committed to meeting the community’s needs through its comprehensive services.
