PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Crawford County Mental Health Center celebrated the opening of its new addiction treatment center at the Richard H. Pfeiffer Recovery Complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon.
The newly established facility will expand the addiction treatment program from 24 to 32 beds. This expansion is expected to enhance both the space available for staff and the quality of care provided to patients.
James Childers, Director of Addiction Services at the Crawford County Mental Health Center, highlighted the benefits of the new center. “By consolidating our outpatient and inpatient programs within the same facility, we aim to improve the continuity of care for our clients. This setup allows our counselors to better coordinate and support individuals across both inpatient and outpatient settings,” Childers explained.
In addition to improving treatment capabilities, the expansion is anticipated to create new job opportunities. Childers indicated that the growth in addiction treatment services and other program expansions could lead to the hiring of 20 to 25 additional staff members over the coming year.
