The 2024 Lois Zussman Golf Classic, held at Franklin Hills Country Club in mid-July, successfully raised more than $200,000 for mental health programs. The event saw participation from 108 golfers and attracted over 200 attendees to the dinner and both silent and live auctions.
Organized annually by Gesher Human Services, the fundraiser supports two key programs for individuals with serious mental health diagnoses: Clubhouse for the Common Good and Creative Expressions. Both programs are based at the Lois and Milton Y. Zussman Center, which recently expanded into a new, larger facility in Southfield.
Clubhouse offers a supportive community environment with activities such as educational classes, culinary experiences, and vocational support. Creative Expressions provides artistic enrichment through classes in visual arts, performing arts, photography, sculpting, writing, and poetry, and helps participants develop entrepreneurial skills by showcasing their work in galleries and performances.
“The importance of having a place to attend that offers support, education, activities, and friendship cannot be overestimated,” noted organizers, emphasizing the impact of the funds raised on these vital programs.
