In anticipation of Mental Health Month in October, Australia Post has announced a donation of over A$500,000 (US$340,000) to 71 non-profit community groups nationwide through its annual Community Grants program. Grants of up to A$10,000 (US$6,800) will finance various initiatives across every state and territory. Projects funded include bushtucker-infused lunches in Queensland to promote mental and physical wellness, workshops for neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ youth in Victoria, community-building excursions in Adelaide, and peer support programs for breast cancer patients in the ACT, among others.

Nicky Tracey, Australia Post’s General Manager of Community and Stakeholder Engagement, stated, “Our Community Grants program celebrates another successful year of empowering organizations that positively impact the lives of countless Australians. This year, we are proud to support 71 community groups dedicated to enhancing mental health and well-being in their local areas.”

Tracey highlighted the importance of social connections for well-being, noting, “Support groups and programs in local communities are essential for fostering these connections. Whether it’s helping elderly Australians stay engaged, providing mental health first aid training for volunteers, or facilitating men’s yarning circles, we are delighted to support such a diverse array of organizations.”
