GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) — The 2nd Annual Mesa Talks, a mental health summit, convened at the Colorado Mesa University (CMU) University Center, bringing together local groups and mental health experts to address pressing mental health issues in the region.
The event aimed to enhance awareness and accessibility of mental health resources available on the Western Slope. Admission to the summit was free, reflecting its commitment to making mental health support more accessible to the community.
“That is what the goal here is,” said Lisa Rickerd Mills, Director of Mesa County Behavioral Health. “How do we connect people to the services that they might need? How do we make people more aware? How do we have bigger conversations? That’s what we’re doing here.”
The Mesa Talks summit emphasizes the importance of community engagement in mental health discussions and provides a platform for individuals to connect with the resources they need. The event continues tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering additional opportunities for attendees to learn and engage with local mental health services.
