WALTHAM, Mass. — Wolters Kluwer Health and the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) have announced a new editorial partnership aimed at expanding mental health resources for healthcare professionals, particularly nurses. This collaboration seeks to address the growing demand for mental health support in Australia, where an estimated one in five individuals between the ages of 16 and 85 will experience mental health challenges, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The partnership is set to equip the Australian healthcare community with up-to-date, evidence-based procedures and clinical content, ultimately improving patient outcomes in mental health care. The new resources will be integrated into Lippincott Procedures Australia, a prominent platform offering healthcare professionals, especially nurses, the latest clinical information at the point of care.

Julie Stegman, Vice President of Wolters Kluwer Health Learning & Practice, emphasized the global need for enhanced mental health resources, noting that nurses and other healthcare providers are increasingly tasked with supporting patients’ mental health as part of comprehensive care. “The ACMHN brings invaluable expertise to this initiative,” Stegman said. “This collaboration will be a powerful addition to Australian healthcare teams that rely on evidence-based, clinical information to deliver optimal patient care.”

Over the next three years, Wolters Kluwer and ACMHN will work together to develop over 100 new mental health-focused procedures tailored to the needs of Australian nurses. These resources will be incorporated into Lippincott Procedures Australia, providing nursing staff with the knowledge and confidence to make informed clinical decisions. The platform is designed to help mitigate risk, reduce care variability, and ensure consistent compliance with the latest best practices.

Strengthening Education and Resources for Mental Health Nurses

The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) plays a key role in credentialing mental health nurses across the country and representing their interests at all levels of government and healthcare sectors. Professor Rhonda Wilson, President of ACMHN, highlighted the critical shortage of mental health nurses in Australia and the need to bolster educational resources to better equip nurses across all clinical fields.

“In Australia, there is a severe shortage of mental health nurses,” Wilson said. “It is vital to improve and strengthen educational resources for nurses so they are better prepared to support patients with mental health conditions, especially in general healthcare settings.”

Wilson added that the collaboration with Wolters Kluwer will ensure that specialized mental health nurses contribute to the development of new resources, empowering general nursing staff to care for patients holistically. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the confidence of nurses in their ability to provide high-quality care to patients with mental health concerns.
