YPSILANTI — In response to alarming statistics indicating that 67% of college women experience overwhelming anxiety, Eastern Michigan University’s Women’s Resource Center is organizing a Mental Health Awareness Event. Scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on November 11, 2024, the event will take place in Student Center, Room 310 AB. The initiative aims to empower students, particularly women, by providing essential resources for managing stress and prioritizing mental well-being.

Chelcey Daniels, a graduate assistant at the Women’s Resource Center, emphasized the event’s goal: “This event is about giving students the tools to prioritize their mental health. We want students to understand that caring for their mental well-being is just as crucial as their academic success. By fostering a culture of self-care and awareness, we can help empower students to take proactive steps toward their mental health.”

A Welcoming Space for Students

The Mental Health Awareness Event is free and open to the entire EMU community, creating a safe and welcoming environment for students to explore stress management and self-care strategies. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences, and leave with practical tools for improving their mental health.
