North London Mental Health Partnership Launches New PHR Platform

The North London Mental Health Partnership (NLMHP) has officially launched a personal health record (PHR) and patient engagement platform provided by Patients Know Best. This new platform went live on July 31, 2024, and is set to enhance mental health services across North London.

The partnership, which includes Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, aims to leverage the platform to identify early signs of mental health deterioration, potentially reducing the need for emergency inpatient care. The PHR solution will allow service users to access and manage their health information more efficiently, improving overall patient engagement and care continuity.

Key features of the platform include:

Interactive Tools: Includes questionnaires, shared care planning, symptom tracking, and a personalized digital library.

Device Integration: The platform integrates with various devices to monitor and track health data.

Sarah Wilkins, Chief Digital Information Officer at NLMHP, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded collaboration with Patients Know Best. She noted, “We’re delighted to expand our relationship with Patients Know Best across all the mental health services we provide in North London. This solution will benefit our service users, their carers, and families by making their health information more accessible and manageable.”

The new system allows service users to document and share their medical history in their own words, avoiding the need to repeat their history to different professionals. Additionally, it aims to improve attendance rates by sending digital correspondence and reduce administrative tasks for staff.

Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO and Founder of Patients Know Best, highlighted the alignment of the platform with NLMHP’s digital patient strategy, emphasizing that the solution supports a more integrated approach to health data sharing. “We are excited to be part of NLMHP’s journey in providing a comprehensive and accessible healthcare experience,” he said.

NLMHP signed a three-year contract with Patients Know Best in May 2024. Other NHS organizations in London, such as North East London Integrated Care System (ICS), North West London ICS, and South East London ICS, have also adopted solutions from Patients Know Best.
