Family Care Center Expands to Knoxville, Offering Essential Mental Health Services

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Family Care Center has announced the opening of a new clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee, aimed at providing critical outpatient mental health services to individuals, couples, families, and Veterans in the area. This expansion highlights the center’s dedication to enhancing access to quality mental health care in a state grappling with increasing demand for affordable treatment options.

A 2024 report from Mental Health America indicates a significant rise in adults in Tennessee experiencing frequent mental distress, with a 7.61% increase. This places Tennessee among the top states with the most notable spikes in mental distress, following Nevada and Kentucky. Many individuals face barriers to accessing necessary care due to financial constraints.

Family Care Center CEO Wayne Cavanaugh emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue. “The increase in challenges accessing mental health care in Tennessee underscores the need for more high-quality care options,” Cavanaugh said. “Our expansion into Knoxville is a crucial step in addressing this crisis and ensuring that Tennesseans receive the care they need.”

The Knoxville clinic offers a range of services with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered treatment. The facility provides therapy, psychiatric care, and advanced treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), which is effective for conditions like treatment-resistant depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Regional Director David Wood, LPC-S, highlighted the benefits of the new location. “By bringing our comprehensive services closer to home, we reduce barriers to care and ensure that individuals and families receive the support they need,” Wood said. “Our team of skilled therapists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals collaborate to deliver personalized treatment options for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and trauma.”
