Coffee Shop in Wicklow to Open on Christmas Day for Mental Health Project

in News

This Christmas morning, if you’re in need of a coffee pick-me-up or simply want to spread some holiday cheer, head to Nine Restaurant on Albert Avenue, Bray. The popular spot will be opening its doors from 9:30am to 11:30am to serve coffee and offer a heartwarming experience, all while supporting an important cause.

The team at Nine has pledged to donate 100% of the profits from Christmas Day to Bray Community Lifeline, a groundbreaking initiative created by Matt Keenan. This unique program is the first of its kind anywhere in the world, focusing on providing a dedicated team of mental health and suicide first aid responders to support individuals in crisis. The funds raised on Christmas Day will directly contribute to expanding this vital service, which aims to save lives and offer timely help to those in need.

For those who fancy a little festive indulgence, Nine will also be serving mulled wine alongside the usual coffee offerings. This will be a perfect way to enjoy some holiday spirit while supporting a cause that can make a real difference in the community.

“We’re backing an amazing initiative that will undoubtedly save a lot of lives,” said the team at Nine. Their support is just one of many ways local businesses are giving back during the holiday season.

In addition to Christmas Day, Nine will also be open on Christmas Eve, from 9:00am to 3:30pm, before closing for St. Stephen’s Day and Friday, December 27.

For Last-Minute Essentials: D’s XL Newsagent

If you find yourself in need of last-minute essentials on Christmas Day, such as gravy, cream for the trifle, or maybe a lighter to flambé your pudding, there’s a lifeline just around the corner. Krishan Dhingra, owner of D’s XL Newsagent on 78 Main Street, will be keeping his store open from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Christmas Day.

Not only can you grab those forgotten items, but you can also enjoy a coffee to perk up before heading back home. Just remember: don’t leave empty-handed, or your “just going to the shop” excuse might become a little suspicious!

Greystones: A Coffee-Less Christmas Day

For those spending Christmas Day in Greystones, known for its abundance of coffee spots, it seems the town will be taking a well-deserved break. Rise at the Cove, a local favorite for coffee lovers, will be closed on Christmas Day. However, if you’re looking to warm up and unwind, Fad Saoil Sauna will be open from 8:00am to 2:00pm, offering a cozy way to relax after a festive plunge.

Whether you’re enjoying a festive drink at Nine or picking up last-minute necessities at D’s XL Newsagent, this Christmas Day offers plenty of opportunities to support mental health initiatives and enjoy a bit of holiday cheer while helping those in need.
