in News

A new non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing access to mental health services is set to launch in Delta this November. The Step Forward Health Society, a wellness initiative aimed at dismantling financial barriers to mental health care, will host a launch event on November 16 at The Red Barn at Southlands from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will serve to introduce the community to the organization’s services and its vision of promoting mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The mission of Step Forward Health Society is straightforward: to ensure that no individual is denied vital mental health support due to financial constraints. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, the organization integrates qualified mental health care, education, training, and community partnerships to provide holistic health services to individuals, couples, youth, and families.

“Our mission is to remove financial barriers and offer mental health programs to individuals who otherwise couldn’t afford them,” said Meg Neufeld, president of Step Forward Health Society. “We believe that mental health care should be accessible to all, and we’re excited to create a space that cares for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.”

The services offered by the organization will include mental health counseling, educational programs, and group support services designed to be inclusive and affordable. Through collaborations with local businesses, community organizations, and clinical professionals, Step Forward Health aims to foster a culture of open dialogue around mental health, combat stigma, and cultivate a more supportive community.

The launch event will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the organization’s mission, meet the team behind the initiative, and explore ways to get involved. Participants will also be introduced to sponsorship and donation opportunities, allowing local businesses and organizations to support this important cause and help expand mental health access throughout the Delta community.

“We are seeking partners who share our vision of healthier communities, and we invite businesses and community members to join us at our launch event,” Neufeld added. “Together, we can strengthen access to mental health support and make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
