A recent study from Auburn University has highlighted the significant benefits of cuddling for couples.
The research observed 143 long-term heterosexual couples and found that those who engaged in physical closeness before sleep experienced lower stress levels and stronger emotional bonds.
Cuddling triggers the release of oxytocin, the “love hormone,” which promotes comfort and connection while reducing blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels. Experts suggest that even short pre-sleep cuddle sessions can offer meaningful physiological and psychological benefits, emphasizing the importance of intimacy in nightly routines.
