How parents can guide their children to do homework

When it comes to children doing homework, everyone has a headache. Children who are really in the elementary school stage often have no sense of responsibility in their small minds due to their immature self-awareness. Therefore, they are often perfunctory. Instructing children to do homework becomes a daily job for parents. When instructing children to do homework, Zhixin International Emotional Counseling Center advises parents to pay attention to the following points:

  1. “Accompanying reading”. In order to prevent their children from being half-hearted, some parents sit next to them to monitor, which is understandable, but this kind of “accompanying reading” will cause children’s nervousness and is not conducive to learning.
  2. “Point and point.” Some parents point out that when their child is doing homework, once they find that the homework is wrong or not able to do it, it will hinder the development of the child’s independent thinking ability.
  3. “Working for you”. Some parents are afraid that their children will be tired and often do homework instead of their children. The homework of primary school students is often the content that lays the foundation, and the parent’s work has weakened this foundation. So, how should you guide your child to do homework?

Suggest:
First of all, the habit of doing homework on time should be cultivated in children. Good habits often achieve multiplier effects with half the effort. Secondly, gradually cultivate the child’s ability to do homework independently. For the low level, parents can spend more time to guide, but with the increase of age, the time should be shortened. Third, encourage children to check homework on their own. Let the children talk about where they went wrong and why they went wrong, so that the children can remember the mistakes and avoid repeating them next time. Fourth, parents should pay attention to proportions when they encounter difficulties. A step-by-step approach can be adopted, that is, the parent first gives a prompt to let the child think about how to do it positively. When the child understands, give some similar questions for him to consolidate.
