JAKARTA — Starting February 2025, all Indonesian citizens will have access to free mental health screening services as part of a landmark national initiative, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced.
The government is mobilizing an extensive network of 10,000 community health centers (puskesmas) and 15,000 clinics across the archipelago to support the rollout. Officials say the program is set to become the largest health initiative in the country’s history, potentially surpassing the scale of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
“This is a vital step to ensure mental well-being is prioritized alongside physical health,” Sadikin said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to making mental health services more accessible to all citizens.
The program aims to address rising mental health concerns and improve early detection and intervention nationwide.
